How do Referral Links Work?

The ins and outs of Fansly referrals

Updated over a week ago

When someone opens your referral link, a small cookie is saved in their browser. This cookie stores your referral code as a setting.

Even if the user doesn’t sign up right away, the referral code will still apply automatically during registration as long as they return and sign up within a given time frame.

This ensures that you receive credit for the referral, even if there's a delay between clicking the link and creating the account.

Fan vs. Creator Referral Links

Fansly offers two types of referral programs, and it’s important to use the right link depending on who you’re referring.

  • Creator Referral Links
These are for inviting new creators to join Fansly. If they’re approved and start earning, you receive:

    • 5% of their revenue for the first year.

    • 1.5% of their revenue indefinitely after the first year.

  • Fan Referral Links
These are for inviting new fans—users who browse, subscribe, and purchase content. You receive 1% of the revenue from their spending on the platform for their first 90 days. Afterward, fans can be linked to a new code.

Pro Tip: Combine Referral Links with Tracking Links

To monitor the performance of your referral links across different platforms or campaigns, you can combine them with tracking links. This allows you to see which sources are driving the most traffic and conversions.

The link structure should be: https://fans.ly/Username/t1?r=ReferralCode

For more information on creating and using tracking links, refer to the Tracking Links article.
