How It Works
Permissions allow you to control how fans can unlock your content, whether that’s through following, subscribing, tipping, or paying a one-time fee.
There are two main ways to set up access:
Offer Different Unlocking Options
Fans can meet any one of several conditions to gain access.
Example: A fan can unlock the option by following or paying a $10 one-time fee.
To do this, click + Add New at the bottom of the permissions list. This creates a new alternative path to access.
Require Multiple Conditions
Fans must meet all selected requirements.
Example: A fan must follow and pay $5.
To set this up, click New Permission next to an existing one. This adds an additional requirement.
Combining Access Options
You can even combine both styles. For example, you can set it so that:
A user can follow & pay $20.
orThey can subscribe & pay $10
These tools give you flexible ways to make your content accessible based on how different fans choose to support you.
Core Permissions
These are the permission options that are most commonly available across different content types:
Tip
The fan must have tipped at least this amount. If they send multiple smaller tips, those count toward the total.
Following
The fan must be following your account. This is a great way to reward engaged fans and encourage more followers.
Subscribed
Only fans who are subscribed can unlock it. You can choose to make this available to all subscribers, or limit it to specific tiers (e.g., VIP tier only).
Media Permissions in Posts and DMs
When adding images, videos or voice notes to a post or DM, you'll see a set of checkboxes to control access. The basic options include "Require purchase," "Require subscription," and "Require follow."
For more flexibility, check the box next to Advanced Permissions.
This will unlock additional settings that let you fine-tune who can unlock your content:
Core Permissions: users can use Following or Subscribed (discussed above)
Add Price: Set a one-time purchase price to unlock the media. Media purchased this way will always remain available to the fan, even if you later delete the media or your account.
Subscribed (More Options): Set a time frame during which the subscription had to be active to get access to the media.
Limited Time: Set a specific window during which this unlock option is available. After the window ends, that option will disappear—even if the post itself remains available. This is great for time-limited offers like weekend sales or exclusive drops.
Private List: allow special access to users on a private list.
💡Pro tip: You can save these permission sets using Save Preset and easily apply the same permissions again by clicking Load Preset.
Post Replies
When you publish a post, you may want people to be able to see it but not comment on it. If you select Lock Replies, you can then apply additional permission settings to control who can respond.
Core Permissions: all core permissions are available
Followed by Me: Only users that you follow can reply to the post.
Media Purchases: The user must have purchased media from you that meets or exceeds the specified amount.
Polls
If you include a poll in your post, you can limit who can reply!
Core Permissions: users can use Following or Subscribed (discussed above)
Locked Text
In addition to the publicly visible text in a post, you can include text thatonly certain people can access!
Core Permissions: all core permissions are available
Add Price: Set a one-time purchase price to unlock the text.
Direct Message Permissions
These settings control who’s allowed to send you a direct message.
They’re separate from the permissions you set on any media you share within a message (see Media Permissions above):
Core Permissions: all core permissions are available
Price per Message: The user must pay a set amount for each message they send.
Followed by Me: Only users that you follow can message you.
Media Purchases: The user must have purchased media from you that meets or exceeds the dollar amount you set.
Private List: Restrict messaging to fans you’ve added to a private list.
Timeline Permissions
Timeline permissions control who can view the content you post on your timeline. These settings don’t affect public profile elements like your username, profile photo, subscription tiers, or bio.
Core Permissions: all core permissions are available
Followed by Me: Only users that you follow can unlock the media. Useful for creators who want to reciprocate access with specific fans.
Live Stream Permissions
Live streams come with their own set of permission options
Core Permissions: all core permissions are available
Ticket Price: Fans can purchase a ticket to join your live stream—just like unlocking regular media, but for live events.
Private List: Limit access to specific fans by creating a private list. Only users on this list can join the stream. Others will see that you're live but won’t be able to view or join.
Stream Chat Permissions
In addition to limiting access to the stream in general, you can control who can engage in the stream chat. To find these, click “Toggle Permissions” at the top of the Stream Chat pane.
Core Permissions: all core permissions are available
Price per Message: Fans must pay a set amount to send each chat message during the stream.
Followed by Me: Only users you follow will be able to send messages in your stream chat.
Media Purchases: Fans must have purchased media from you that meets or exceeds the set amount to chat.
Private List: Only fans on a specific private list can send messages in chat.

How to Check Media Permissions
To view the current permissions on a piece of media, click the three blue dots in the top-right corner of the post, then select Media Permissions from the menu.
Updating Media Permissions
You can update your media permissions at any time. Users who have not already purchased the media must meet the new requirements to continue accessing the content.
Tipped vs. Purchased Media
There’s a key difference between content unlocked with a purchase and content unlocked through a tip:
Purchased media stays accessible to the user, even if you change the permissions or delete your account.
Tipped for media may become unavailable if you update the permissions or delete the content after it’s been unlocked.
