Here’s a quick rundown to get you started on the essentials:

What form do I need to fill out as a Fansly creator?
All U.S.-based creators must submit a W-9 form to start receiving payouts on our platform. The W-9 is an IRS-mandated form most commonly used by U.S. taxpayers as freelancers or independent contractors. Fansly is legally required to report all creators who earn more than $20,000 in most states to the IRS. Therefore, it is important for creators to submit their tax documentation.

All non-U.S. based creators should submit either a W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E. The W-8BEN is for all non-U.S. based creators filing as an individual. The W-8BEN-E is for all non-U.S. based creators filing as a private business or LLC. All EU based creators must also complete a DAC7 form.

Where do I submit my W-9 Form?
You can submit your W-9 Form directly on Fansly by clicking this link or, by navigating to your Creator Dashboard, expanding the list by clicking "More", and then selecting Tax Documentation. From there, you will enter your country as the "United States of America (the)" and complete the form. For more detailed instructions, you can navigate to Submitting a W-9 Form.

Where do I submit my W-8BEN-E Form?

What is a 1099-K form?
As an independent contractor on Fansly, you’ll generally deal with a Form 1099-K if your annual earnings exceed $5,000 in 2024. It reports the total gross earnings you received through payment card transactions (such as credit card transactions) and third-party network transactions.

Do I need to file taxes even if I didn’t make much money?
Yes, if you earn income, you need to report it. This includes any and all earnings from Fansly, regardless of the amount. It is important that you keep personal records of your earnings from Fansly to avoid any income tax issues due to false reporting. We do not keep total annual earnings records for any creator.

Where do I get my Form 1099-K?
1099-Ks (not 1099-MISC/NEC) are electronically delivered annually to all creators who earn more than $5,000 in revenue in that respective year.

If you were above that threshold in 2024 (read: this article) and have yet to receive your 1099-K, please feel free to email us at support@fansly.com so we can start the process for you.

What can I write off as a Fansly creator?
You can deduct business expenses that are both ordinary and necessary. Common write-offs include costs related to content creation, like props, costumes, and part of your internet bill if you use it for work.
